Baylor University seeks to fill a tenured or tenure-track faculty position within the College of Arts & Sciences at the Associate to Full Professor level effective Fall 2025.
We are searching for a collaborative faculty member with research experience in Materials Characterization as part of a multi-year Materials Science Cluster initiative. The position is established to enhance the expanding research capabilities in the broad area of materials characterization, including, but not limited to, optical, magnetic, structural, and electrical characterization. The current focus is semiconductors and quantum technology, with an emphasis on developing experimental and computational research capabilities that will be adaptable to future research endeavors.
This position will be located in either the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry or the Department of Physics, depending on suitability and interest.

Qualifications:
- Outstanding senior candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Earned doctorate in physics, chemistry, materials science, or related field is required.
- Distinguished record of scholarly achievement and extramural funding commensurate with a senior tenured appointment is expected.
The ideal candidate will maintain a highly active and well-funded research program, help increase the research activity in the broad area of materials science, engage in teaching, mentoring, and training of undergraduate and graduate students, and establish strong ties with the Baylor community.
