Job Description:
The Functional Organic Materials Lab led by Professor Xiaoran Hu in the Department of Chemistry and Bioinspired Institute at Syracuse University is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to conduct research on functional polymers and/or novel drug delivery systems. The initial appointment will be for one year, with potential for renewal for the following years, pending annual review of performance.

Qualifications:
Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering or related fields.


Job Specific Qualifications:
The ideal candidates will have extensive experience in one or several of the following broadly defined areas:
  • Polymer chemistry, photoswitches, sensors/probes, biorthogonal chemistry, nanomaterial self-assembly, supramolecular chemistry.
  • Drug delivery. Experience with prodrugs/gene therapeutics is preferred.
  • PROTAC, sonotherapy, immunotherapy, or other novel therapy methods.


Responsibilities:
  • Design, synthesis, and characterization of small molecules and macromolecules
  • Construct and characterize nanoparticles for optimal performance as drug delivery vehicles or sensors
  • Analyze and interpret obtained data
  • Draft manuscripts for publication.
  • Mentor junior students.
