Job Description:
The Functional Organic Materials Lab led by Professor Xiaoran Hu in the Department of Chemistry and Bioinspired Institute at Syracuse University is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to conduct research on functional polymers and/or novel drug delivery systems. The initial appointment will be for one year, with potential for renewal for the following years, pending annual review of performance.

Qualifications:
Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering or related fields.

Job Specific Qualifications:
The ideal candidates will have extensive experience in one or several of the following broadly defined areas:

Polymer chemistry, photoswitches, sensors/probes, biorthogonal chemistry, nanomaterial self-assembly, supramolecular chemistry.
Drug delivery. Experience with prodrugs/gene therapeutics is preferred.
PROTAC, sonotherapy, immunotherapy, or other novel therapy methods.

Responsibilities:

Design, synthesis, and characterization of small molecules and macromolecules
Construct and characterize nanoparticles for optimal performance as drug delivery vehicles or sensors
Analyze and interpret obtained data
Draft manuscripts for publication.
Mentor junior students.
